Our physicians are Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians also known as “physiatrists”. After medical school our physician spend 1 year (internship) learning about internal medicine and surgery. Then they spend the next 3 years training in rehabilitation medicine: outpatient and inpatient. Of all the fields of medicine ours is the most focused on rehabilitation and the nuances of a detailed therapy program for all conditions including musculoskeletal medicine, sports injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, amputations, traumatic brain injuries, concussions, orthopedic injuries, nerve injuries, etc.. Our physicians have close working relationships with many therapists in town and are extremely particular as to who we refer our patients to because our expectations of therapists are high given our specialty.
In our clinic, our physicians will examine you after taking a thorough history and then discuss treatment options which may include therapy. Our physician will guide the therapist in detail regarding a treatment plan.
In the hospital, our physicians will lead the rehab/therapy team with the goal of returning the patient home in a safe manner.
In all instances communication is key and our Rehab Physicians will always be in close communication with your therapy team.
