PMR Charity
Founded by Dr. Omar Selod and run by a dedicated committee of volunteers, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) Charity serves the Fort Worth community by raising funds to provide financial assistance to those who cannot afford to pay for their medical services. Since 2004, PMR Charity’s primary fundraiser has been an annual golf tournament that has allowed the nonprofit to contribute to patients with varying medical needs – from stroke victims to amputees – whose mounting medical bills were causing a tremendous strain on their quality of life and on their families. Sadly, PMR Charity has more demand than it has resources, especially given the economic downturn. While the organization continues to grow, so does the need for financial support. Omar Selod, D.O., was raised in Fort Worth and attended Trinity Valley School from Kindergarten to twelfth grade. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and attended medical school in Kansas City. Upon graduation, Selod returned to Fort Worth, where he completed his internship at the Osteopathic Medical Center of Texas and his residency in Dallas at Baylor University Medical Center in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, where he became chief resident his senior year. Since 2001, Selod has run his own rehabilitation practice in Fort Worth, where he treats patients suffering from a range of physical ailments including strokes, brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, amputations, musculoskeletal injuries, occupational injuries and arthritis conditions. Selod has been named a “Top Doc” in his field by Fort Worth, Texas magazine. In his spare time, Selod enjoys coaching his daughters’ soccer teams and contributing his time to PMR Charity – a nonprofit organization he founded in 2004 with the purpose of providing financial support to patients who could not afford their medical services.
